  19. The cluster size that FDISK will select depends on the size of the
  20. partition being created. The cluster size for a particular
  21. partition size is shown in the following table:

  41. The cluster size is adjusted for different partitions because of
  42. the use of a 12 or 16 bit File Allocation Table (FAT). DR/PC/MS DOS
  43. use a 16 bit FAT on partitions greater than 32MB and can therefore
  44. keep track of 65,518 clusters. A 12 bit FAT can only keep track of
  45. 4,077 clusters. The 12 bit FAT format is kept to maintain
  46. compatibility with earlier versions of DOS.
